gmail, wordpress and postie
Ya know… my computing life is getting better and better. I’ve used Outlook for ever. In fact I have a lot of mail that’s still in an Outlook archive. But with schlam.org I installed the Google Apps for Domains. Which makes my schlam.org email accounts have the same look and feel as Gmail accounts. Pretty slick. I like that I can chat with Gmail/Google Talk folks right in my browser. I also get to take my contacts with me to any browser I choose to use. Sweet. Granted, I have minimal advertising on the screen - but it’s WAY better than the webmail Dreamhost offers.
Wordpress is pretty nice, too. This blog is powered by Wordpress. You can keep your MySpace, or your facebook stuff… Wordpress is super-duper powerful. So many plugins are available. I’m currently running a plugin that makes it easy to post YouTube videoes into the blog. That’s nice in case I wanna share something I made, or something I thought was funny.
But, the coolest plugin I’ve seen so far is Postie. Postie let’s me post blogs straight from my email account or via text message from my phone. I can even send pictures, and/or video to my blog direct from my phone! (This blog was sent from my email account). Badass!
We truly live in the future. Now I just need a jetpack.
